It all started with the Blue Stain Pine craze. The blue stain pine was so popular we started looking to see if we could create that smokey blue, grey and amber effect with a stain process.

THE FINISH
I have had several builders and log home enthusiasts who have called us to buy our Peace-of-Mind Pine because of the experiences they had trying to field apply polyurethane to previous jobs. One guy said he re did his basement and had nearly killed himself with the fumes.
Warm & Bright! - "NOXIOUS NIGHTMARE"!
The thing with paneling as opposed to flooring is that the volume of space is oppressive because paneling covers so much area. The scope of the project and the overwhelming nature of the fumes make it a herculean task to take on in the field. It takes 2 to 3 coats of polyurethane to do the job correctly. Each coat has to be carefully and evenly applied and then allowed to tack dry. You must lightly sand between each and every coat.
"It was a Thick, Sticky, Streaky, Globby, Noxious Nightmare!" (Verbatim).
"Things happen while you are doing it, you get taken away from it and then have to start again. I had our whole house stunk up for 3 weeks while I fought with that stuff and I WILL NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!" (We get that a lot). If you are going to do the job right, you can't do it cheaper or better than the machines.
The deal with wood paneling is that you are making a tradeoff if you do not finish. The wood will be difficult to keep clean and will require more maintenance over the years than finished wood. It will also run the risk of any and all wood/moisture related problems that can occur.
The reason polyurethane is used on wood paneling is to protect it and make it easy to keep clean. The clean part is the one you must understand if you opt out of poly. If something stains that wood there will be very little you can do short of sanding and with natural darkening you may just have to get that old picture of grandma out of the basement.
The main point here is that on interior paneling you do not need to polyurethane if you understand the maintenance implications and risk to your wood. If you are trying to save a buck just field apply a stain or clear and hope for the best. On the other hand if you are the type who wants to do it exactly right (and you love that beautiful satin glow) there is no better finish that our UV Polyurethane.
The UV technology is what sets it apart. The urethane is specially designed to be dried as it is applied with the UV light. It is a state of the art process that eliminates streaking and drips. The result is an immaculate finish and a bullet proof board.
Save yourself the headache (literally) and get some "Peace of Mind Pine". You get it you stick it up on the wall and you forget about it. No muss no fuss and no "NOXIOUS NIGHTMARES".
