The Home Owner - Edwin of Georgia. He had originally decided to go with sheet rock on the interior but after doing the research online decided on wood paneling. He found us on the internet and began looking through the wood paneling and wood siding products we showcase. After discussing the pros and cons of different woods he decided the Cedar Dutch Lap Siding pre-stained
would be the best option for the exterior wood and pine paneling with a Clear 2 Coat UV Urethane finish would be right for the
interior wood paneling.
The Wood Species - Ponderosa Pine
The Wood Grade - STK (Select Knotty Pine) Kiln Dried - Graded to the smooth side
The Paneling Pattern - 1x6" Tongue and Groove Paneling Pattern, Actual Exposure 5".
The Paneling Finish - PEACE OF MIND PINE Factory Finish - two coats of Urethane, UV dried as
it's applied, Urethane on the face to give it that extra smooth finish.
Interior T&G Knotty Pine Paneling - 2 Coat Clear UV Finish
A CLEAR satin coat was applied to the raw knotty pine prior to the two coats of, UV dried as it's applied, Urethane clear polyurethane finish. The result was a smooth, semi-satin sheen over over the warm pine wood tones. The result is beautiful pine paneling showcasing the natural wood character and grain. The T&G, end-matched interior knotty pine panels were pre-sealed on both sides, front and back, for maximum protection. It is the same durable and lasting protection used on hardwood flooring. The wood is finished on one side and sealed on the other. The finished paneling is easy to clean, easy to install and built to last giving years of trouble free protection.
The Cost -
The total remodel cost about $175,000 and our wood package - Cove Lap cedar siding exterior and pine paneling interior - ran about $13,000 on this project.
He said the entire project took about 3 times as long and cost about twice as much as he thought when he started but was well worth it for what he achieved.
To me this is what is it all about- helping someone build their own little slice of heaven. Made sweeter for the labor of love put into it.
