Blue Pine Wood Paneling
GRANDDADDY BLUE STAIN PINE!
A NATURAL and UNIQUE interior Pine Paneling look!
GRANDDADDY BLUE STAIN PINE's distinctive blue-gray swirling colors are the result of a stain fungus that travels into the tree when pine beetles bore into the bark.
Since the 1990s a large pine beetle infestation has spread rampantly forcing the cutting and processing of many trees before the mills
were ready in order to limit the spread and salvage the dead trees before it was too late.
As sad as it is to see these magnificent trees taken down it would be even sadder to lose this opportunity to utilize this uniquely
beautiful wood that in favor of cutting down new trees. Check out our customer pictures of their GRANDDADDY

Announcing the last of our TRUE BLUE PINE!

The Good, The Bad and the Beautiful!
The good- We have some
The bad- We won’t for long
The Beautiful is the “True Blue”
October 2016: We just bought the last truckload of “Heavy Blue” stain pine we could find anywhere in the country. This is the real deal Blue Hue caused by the beetle.
This is our Blue and what we have come to know our customers love. Over 50% is blue/grey color.
In 2011 our favorite pine mill sent us samples of blue stained pine paneling. It had that amazing blend of orange streaks, gray swirls and heavy blue coloring.
When I originally saw the blue pine I nicknamed it "Granddaddy Pine" because to me it looks 100 years old. We applied our Peace of Mind Clear Ultra Violet finish
and it was beautiful.
For five years our blue pine wood paneling has been a customer favorite and a wonderful solution to an environmental problem caused by a
Pine Beetle Epidemic that killed a LOT of trees.
Now those trees have been harvested in the US and the good stuff (the wood with over 50% blue in it) is almost impossible to find. We will keep looking but when this is gone
it might be the last of the True Blue Granddaddy Pine we can offer.
BLUE STAIN Pine Paneling +
PEACE OF MIND PINE Clear Finish!
Our Ultra Violet finish technology is a one sand stroke and 2 coats of finish dried as it is applied with an ultra violet light.
The result is … what can we say? This is the coolest interior paneling product we have seen yet.
You will love the low maintenance of the Clear finish Ultra Violet (UV) dried paneling. The extra UV protects against fade and makes it easy to
keep clean. This is an excellent choice for kitchen paneling where you might worry about traffic, water and

From tragedy comes beauty...
British Columbia is going to lose more than 20% of its pine trees between now and 2020 due to the Mountain Pine Beetle Epidemic.
These little buggers have killed over 150 million acres of trees from Mexico through Canada.
The beetle works in conjunction with a fungus that causes the wood to streak the most amazing colors of blue with deep amber highlights. Blue Stain pine as we
call it in the industry HAS to be cut and milled or it goes to waste and causes increased fire hazards.
As sad as it is to see these magnificent trees taken down by beetle infestation it would be even sadder to see this incredible
looking wood go to waste while live trees are cut down for processing. Utilizing Blue Stain wood is an opportunity to create
something very unique in your home and help the environment at the same time.
NOTE: The blue fungus is killed when the pine lumber is dried in kilns and does not decrease the usability of the wood paneling.
We have nicknamed our blue paneling “GrandDaddy Pine” because the grey/blue streaks make the wood look 100 years old.
This is quite simply the most unique looking wood we have ever seen and we fell in love with it the first time we saw it.
Combined with our Buffalo Lumber PEACE of MIND- PINE
CLEAR + 2 UV Finish Coats the result is unique, luxurious and rustic all rolled into one.
Krystal & Chad said they wanted something that looked really Rustic and different.

BLUE Stain "GRANDDADDY PINE" - a look like no other!
Be careful of some other offers of “Blue Stain” as they might not be what you expect. Quite often pine boards with just a few spots of blue stain will be graded out and called "blue stain" pine.
Always have the vendor show you pictures of the amount of Blue in the blue stain. It is a good idea to get a picture from the side of a unit so you can see how much blue is in the depth of the pile as well as on top.
Blue stain pine is going out of the marketplace soon. The beetle infestation trees have mostly been harvested.
There are some mills with a little left but once that is gone the best we can do will be to re-create the blue stain "look" with specialty staining process we are researching.

Blue Pine Paneling Coverage
Blue Pine wood paneling is sold by the linear (or lineal) foot.
Your quantity requirements are calculated by multiplying your square
foot area by a linear factor based on the siding width.
The Lineal Foot Factor is derived by dividing 12 inches by the individual pattern's exposed face.
A) Calculate the square footage in walls: length x height = sq. ft.
B) Calculate, and then subtract, the square footage of openings
C) Add 10% to cover trim and waste
D) Multiply the result by the factor for lineal feet
Pine T&G Siding Coverage
* assuming 3/8" board overlap
|Nominal Width||Dressed Width||Exposed Face||Linear Ft Factor*|
Coverage Example: If you are siding four walls 8 feet high by 40 feet long with 1x6" wide T&G pine paneling
and we allow 10% of the total square feet for openings, you would need approximately 3040-3100
linear feet (LFT):
SQFT AREA: 4 * 8 * 40 = 1280 SQ FT - 128 (10% openings) + 115 (10% trim/waste) = 1267 SQ FT
1x6" T&G: 1267 SQ FT * 2.4 linear factor = 3040.8 LFT
